Creating and Restoring Backups
How to protect your site data from loss and restore it when needed
Backups are your first line of defense against coding errors, hacks, or accidental deletions. At SNG Hosting, we take this very seriously.
- 1Step 1
Automatic Backups (JetBackup)
We take automatic daily or weekly backups (depending on your plan) of your entire site. You can access these via cPanel > JetBackup 5.
- 2Step 2
Create Manual Full Backup
Before making major changes, it's best to take a manual backup. Go to cPanel > Backup Wizard > Full Backup. You can save it on the server or send it to a remote server.
- 3Step 3
Restore Files or Databases
To restore a specific file or database, go to JetBackup 5, choose the restore type (Files, Database), select the date, and click Restore.
- 4Step 4
Download Backup to PC
To keep a safe copy off-site, you can download the Full Backup from File Manager to your personal computer.
Backup Best Practices
- Don't rely solely on automatic backups; always keep an off-site copy.
- Take a backup before updating WordPress or plugins.
- Ensure the backup includes files, databases, and emails.
- Test restoring backups occasionally to ensure they work.
