Managing DNS Records (A, CNAME, MX)
Guide to controlling domain routing and email delivery
DNS records tell the internet where to find your website or where to send your emails. You can easily manage them via Zone Editor in cPanel.
- 1Schritt 1
Access Zone Editor
Log in to cPanel. In the 'Domains' section, click on 'Zone Editor'. You will see a list of all domains associated with your account.
- 2Schritt 2
Add A Record
Used to point a domain to a specific IP address. Click '+ A Record', enter the name (e.g., blog.yourdomain.com) and the IP Address, then click 'Add Record'.
- 3Schritt 3
Add CNAME Record
Used to alias one name to another. For example, pointing www.yourdomain.com to yourdomain.com. Click '+ CNAME Record' and enter the details.
- 4Schritt 4
Configure MX Records
If you use an external email service (like Google Workspace), you'll need to change MX records to route emails to their servers instead of ours.
Important Tips When Editing DNS
- Changes can take 1 to 24 hours to propagate globally.
- Do not delete default records unless you are absolutely sure.
- Trailing Dot: Some records require a dot (.) at the end of the domain name.
- Screenshot old records before editing to restore if needed.
