Changing PHP Version & PHP.ini Settings
How to update PHP version and configure advanced options for your site
Some scripts or plugins may require a specific PHP version to function correctly. At SNG Hosting, we give you full control over this.
- 1Schritt 1
Access PHP Selector
From cPanel, look for the 'Software' section and click 'Select PHP Version'. You will see the current version in use.
- 2Schritt 2
Change Version
Click the dropdown next to 'Current PHP Version' and select the desired version (e.g., 8.1 or 8.2). Then click 'Set as current'.
- 3Schritt 3
Enable/Disable Extensions
On the same page, you'll find a list of PHP extensions (like zip, soap, gd). You can enable or disable any extension by checking the box next to it.
- 4Schritt 4
Modify Options
Click the 'Options' tab at the top. Here you can modify important values like 'memory_limit' (PHP memory), 'upload_max_filesize' (max upload size), and 'max_execution_time'.
When Should You Change PHP Version?
- For Security & Speed: Always use the latest stable version (currently 8.1+).
- For Compatibility: If you have an old theme or plugin that breaks, you might need to revert to an older version temporarily.
- When Errors Occur: Messages like 'Fatal Error' might be due to PHP version incompatibility.
- To Increase Resources: If you face 'Memory Exhausted' error, increase memory_limit.
